So, this is officially the longest time I have had off between rehearsals!
I am sure you are all looking after each other and staying indoors and safe.
Oliver would have been staged this week as I write and the first dress rehearsal would be just about to get under way, what an exciting thought!
As with all theatre companies, we cannot confirm any future dates until we are allowed to leave our front doors and theatres open and until life returns to whatever normality you enjoy. Mine is based entirely around theatre!
I have however spent more time with my thoughts, my daughter Mabel and partner Alison. My garden will be a picture by the time I am allowed to leave it and hopefully the list we all have of “things to do” will be a lot shorter than when we started the lockdown!
Alison is an NHS employee and as such is still working but is lucky enough to deal with her patients by telephone and video from home. She is on holiday starting today, not because it is Easter and wants a break, no, it’s because she was set to run front of house for the Oliver production. I think this will be one of the first times she’s been off relaxing in ages. Generally her holidays are spent running around in show week checking Mabel and I are eating properly, working at the theatre and watching every performance. She considers herself one of us! I must send all my best to the many parents, cast and team that work for the NHS, the Fire Service, all teachers, our supermarket workforce and other public sector workers and those who are volunteering at this time. Stay safe.
So, all I can say is I always finish what I have started.
I need to see my Red, Green and Blue teams strut their stuff, pick a pocket or two and have a fine life. I’d do anything to see George and Harry sing and dance us through the streets of London and all of us celebrate our success!
So as soon as theatrically possible we will all meet up and start to plan when to stage Oliver and Bugsy Malone.
In the meantime cast old and new can go to the past production page and look through the photographs taken by Light and Imagination for Annie and Joseph. Simply follow the link on each page and enjoy!
May I take this opportunity to send my very best wishes to you and your families.
Keep busy, cook some food glorious food, and we will be back soon!
